079-1218-1002, RARE Factory Engraved New Haven Arms Volcanic #22xx. Volcanic No. 2 Navy pistol manufactured by the New Haven Arms Company c. 1860.
Approximately 300 of the 1000 large frame No. 2 Navy pistols manufactured by the New Haven Arms Co. between 1857-1962 had six-inch barrels. Surviving examples are rare. The brass receiver is silver-plated, and the barrel/magazine is blued. The hammer and finger lever are casehardened, and the two piece walnut grips have a piano finish. The side plates, receiver top, front and rear are decorated with open leaf and scroll engraving. The back strap is engraved with a flower with stem and two leaves. The engraving is similar to the typical factory engraving on New Haven Arms Volcanic pistols and carbines but was clearly executed by a different hand than the standard factory engraving. No. 2 Navy pistols are seldom found with engraving or silver-plated finishes. The pistol has a half-rib style barrel with integral eight-shot magazine and brass cone front sight. The top barrel flat is roll-stamped with the New Haven Arms Co. legend: "PATENT FEB. 14th/NEWHAVEN. CONN." in two lines. The receiver has a dovetail mounted rear sight, spur-less finger lever and hammer with border-less knurling on the spur. The serial number is stamped on the right side of the loading lever, right side of the butt beneath the grip and on the inside of both grips. All of the visible serial numbers match.
Fine. This scarce pistol retains 35% plus of the original blue finish. The barrel/magazine has a plum brown patina with scattered spots of age discoloration and thin patina on contact points. Considerable blue finish is present in protected areas. The barrel legend is crisp. Most of the silver-plating is present beneath the grips. The exterior of the receiver and side plates have a wonderful mustard patina. The side plate joints are perfect, and the receiver is free from scratches or handling marks. The well-executed leaf and scroll engraving is extremely sharp. The case colors on the hammer and lever have aged to a mottled brown patina. The bottom of the lever has some tiny spots of surface rust but no pitting. The left grip has a repaired hairline crack but all but invisible; otherwise, the grips remain in very fine condition and retains 80% of the original piano finish with some minor handling wear. This is a fine example of a rare engraved New Haven Arms No. 2 Navy Pistol with six-inch barrel and silver-plated finish. Much better than you normally find. This would really be a show piece in any collection.

PLEASE DO NOT Bid UNLESS SERIOUS. I CAN SOMETIMES MAKE DEALS AT STARTING BIDS. I DO NOT WANT TO GO THROUGH EFFORT AND FIND THE BUYER WAS JUST PLAYING GAMES. I pre-negotiate items and I have informed sellers that they must give me their best price. I will be turning down offers below starting bids.
PLEASE READ As a Term of Sale You Agree to These Rules
For All Shipments: I have automated my shipping. The form allows EXPEDITED handling of shipment. If you elect to not use it please allow up to two additional weeks to ship. Also if buying several items, I can only ship items together that come in the same order. Please follow this procedure I have assistants fill orders who never view my e-mails. So no form means I must be back from a buying trip to process order. Inventory numbers are essential so please follow these directions. I get checks all the time with no order forms, and I simply cannot remember who buys what.
JUST PRINT IT, FILL IT OUT AND INCLUDE WITH CHECK. This is the URL of form: "://antiqueguns/form.htm"
I try to ship the day after I receive payment, but ed items will normally not ship until about a week after I receive funds. Travel schedules can delay any shipments for up to 2 weeks. If this is a problem, DO NOT BID. I do my best to ship quickly, but I have to travel all over the US to find this stuff. So your patience is appreciated.
Payment must be received within seven, (7) days after the end of the , unless arranged in advance with AntiqueGuns. AntiqueGuns will be released from liability to sell an item, if payment comes in after the seven (7) day period and cannot guarantee item will still be available.
IF YOU DID NOT HIT THE RESERVE, PLEASE CONTACT ME AT THE END OF S AND GIVE ME YOUR BEST OFFER. I TRY VERY HARD TO MAKE DEALS AND I HAVE NO PROBLEM, MAKING A GOOD DEAL FOR SOMEONE, IF I CAN MAKE ENOUGH TO STAY IN BUSINESS.
FOREIGN BUYERS: I will only accept credit cards from purchasers outside of the continental United States with prior approval. See order form for rules and conditions of credit card purchases. If wiring funds there will be a surcharge of $20 for wires under $1000, and $30 for wires over $1001.
INSURANCE: I can only insure to a max of $650 for most European Countries, the buyer will have to accept for risk of loss above that figure. I have shipped several thousand guns by EXPRESS AIRMAIL to over seas destinations and I have never had one lost. So the risk of loss is small.
BUYERS WITHIN THE USA: aLL credit card sales for purchases over $1000 MUST BE approved in advance. I will only use AMEX as a last resort and I am not set up for PayPal. I have way to many problems getting funds from them.
AS A BINDING CONTRACT IN MOST STATES, PLEASE DO NOT BID UNLESS YOU PLAN TO FOLLOW THROUGH.
FEEDBACK: UPON COMPLETION OF THE TRANSACTION, I WOULD APPRECIATE FEEDBACK, FINE THE LINK ON THE SIDE BAR OF EACH PAGE or click HERE: My user name is "robles" I will be happy to reciprocate.
Sales Tax, $6.75% for Utah residents, no Exceptions, except for Resale Holders, please send me a copy of resale license.
Global Express Mail, (EMS) provides insurance up to $650, will provide a tracking number, which you can go to ://usps and track your package. It costs more, but saves me headaches, so I will insist to use this route. Shipping to Europe, Small pistol packages of 1-2 pounds $70, regular size pistols $85, and $120 for carbine and $150 for a musket. If I use FEDX the cost is about double, $110 for small pistol, $150 for large pistol and $275 for rifle. I will include a hard plastic case with rifle and carbine sales for an additional $15. The cases are limited in size and only work with carbines and standard rifles, not musket lenght arms. That is my cost of the case. The case is yours.
For other countries, or larger packages or multiple guns, you will need to go to usps and e-mail me a copy of the rate calculation for shipment. You will find links that will allow you to calculate shipping. Remember, you must quote EMS, I will not ship by a less expensive method. I will look at your calculation and tell you what I can ship for, I normally have to add $10-$30 for packing, and shipping materials.
SENDING ORDERS, YOU MUST USE ORDER FORM, OR YOU CAN HANDWRITE A FACIMILE.
Mail payments to: Rob Robles, PO Box 1218, Salem, Utah, 84653 USA. YOU MUST USE INVENTORY NUMBER IN ALL REFERENCES TO ITEM, (EX: 079-7654, Colt M-1860 Army...) You can use the Item Number, the computer assigns it, but my books do not record it. (EX: Robles-18765).
SHIPPING COSTS: The BUYER is always responsible for shipping.
For Domestic shipments: I use US Mail, Registered or Priority Service. These will have 2-3 day deliveries for Express of Priority Mail.
Pistols and Small Collectibles, cost $25. If you want insurance add $10 plus 1.00 per hundred dollars in value for insurance.
Carbines, Swords, cost $75.00, which included plastic case. If you want insurance add $10 plus $100 per hundred for every hundred dollars.
Rifles and Muskets cost $80. If you want insurance add $10 plus $1.00 for every hundred. I now use a double lined cardboard box for rifles and muskets, they cost me $10 a piece, but I have had no breakage.
I ship by priority mail.
Express and Priority mail will only insure for a maximum of $5000. Antiqueguns will only be responsible for the amount insured. If the buyer wants insurance in excess to $5000, then the gun must be shipped by REGISTERED MAIL. That is slower, but by far the safest way to ship items within the US. Registered mail will only insure for $25,000, so if the gun excess of that in value, then buyer will be responsible or some other shipping arrangement will need to be made.
ED GUNS: I WILL BE POSTING SOME HIGH QUALITY GUNS WHERE I AM ACTING AS A . A different set of rules will apply to ed guns. I assign.
Some of these items will be subject to prior sale, so s may end early if the gun is sold outside the .
2. I will not have these guns in my possession, but I will have seen and inspected the guns and will include many detailed photos, that I have taken. You will not be ordering guns that I have not handled and determined is a desirable collectible.
3. A three day inspection will be granted, it will be strictly adhered to, unless arrangements are made in advance. I inspect items and describe them as carefully as I can, but I will miss things and I never post anything that I do not think is original, but there are people who have been altering and faking items for 30-40 years and sometimes alterations are very difficult to determine. Within your inspection period you must satisfy yourself as to originality. Acceptance of the item after the inspection period will hold Antiqueguns and/or Rob Robles from any future claims or liability in case the item is subsequently determined to be altered or faked. Please treat the inspection period seriously, it is your chance to inspect an item, have a professional inspect an item and determine originality and condition.
4. For those items where the seller retains the right to sell the item outside the , then, I will make my reserve known to any serious buyer and if a buyer is willing to meet the reserve I will stop the at that time. I do not take items on consignment unless I feel the values are fair and I can make a commission. I am doing this because this will allow me to offer a large number of exceptional quality guns that I cannot invest in. I am only willing to do this with high quality collectible items.
I DO NOT quote serial numbers to Buyers, except for some Winchesters where you want to call to confirm conformation, and then only after you are the successful . Please do not ask, you will get a reply you do not want to read. There are several reasons, too numerous to mention here why I will not quote other serial numbers.
Money back less cost to ship and insure, if not satisfied. All sales are allowed a 3-5 business day inspection. Please call me to make arrangements before shipping any item back for refund. No refund is due until I have received the item and it has been inspected. 1 408 839 8373, days or eves.
RETURNS your are responsible to send a copy of e-mail notification of winning notice. This is your receipt, you must send it with item being returned. Once item being returned has been received, and inspected, and found not to be altered, your refund will be processed.
My mailboxes get so full that to research this is very time consuming. If I must research this, I will have to charge $50-$100 to do it. I do not want to do that. So please send copy of e-mail notification of purchase with returned item. The notice tells me how much you paid for item plus shipping.
THANK YOU FOR THE OPPORTUNITY TO WORK WITH YOU. MY RULES COME ACROSS HARSH, BUT I AM JUST TRYING TO KEEP THEM SHORT, SO PEOPLE WILL READ THEM. I VALUE MY CUSTOMERS VERY MUCH AND HOPE YOU ARE TREATED WELL AND RECEIVE GOOD VALUE IN ALL PURCHASES.
