Manufactured in 1893. The top of the barrel is marked with the one line address, "COLT FRONTIER SIX SHOOTER 44-40" on the left side and the two line three patent dates are marked on the left side of the frame followed by the Rampant Colt. The matching serial number is marked ont he bottom of the frame, trigger guard, and back strap, with the assembly number "887" on the loading gate. The left side of the front and back strap are marked with the Colt factory rework star under the grip. Fitted with a smooth one piece pearl grip. The butt is period inscribed "FRANK WATSON/U.S.B.S. NICHTHEROY/ST. THOMAS D.W.I/DECEMBER 5 1893". The accompanying factory letter verifies the serial number, barrel, length, caliber, nickel finish and grips and that it was shipped as 1 of 45 to Hartley & Graham, New York, N.Y. on November 14, 1893.
Very fine condition as factory replated (factory rework star on trigger guard). The revolver has been factory re-barreled and retains 85% factory nickel finish with some scattered minor flaking, heaviest on the cylinder. The exposed metal has a smooth gray patina. The grips are very good with a few minor chips on the edges. The markings are clear. The action is fine.
