to the best of my knowledge the only iver johnson serial number records that survived the paper drives of WWII and iver johnson's eventual move from fitchburg were a shop foreman's notebook that stoped in 1941. these were only for handguns and were given to me in 1983 when i visited the factory in jacksonville, ar. these serial numbes formed the basic of my first iver johnson book published in 1993.
serial number records turned over to the ATF in 1973 (when the family sold the company was sold to outside interest) have proved hard to get. my last correspondence with ATF about them was less than cordial. they made the statement that these are business records and are not public records and if i wanted copies of them i would need to sign an agreement that i would pay what ever amout they decided upon and the estimate they provided was far higher than i was willing to pay.
