Hello - I am looking for a little help on trying to place a ball-park figure on a Winchester Model 12 Standard Trap for a friend. He has run on some tough times, and is looking to sell it, and frankly, I'm interested in it, and I want to be fair on the price.
I can't get pictures of it, so I will try to describe it the best I can.
The gun has a serial number of 683xxx, which according to Maddis puts it's manufacture in 1935. Beneath the serial number are the words Standard Trap. It has a 30", full choke barrel with a vent rib, and the posts on the rib are the "half-moon" design, and ends in a duckbill on the top of the receiver. It has a checkered barrel-type forearm, and the buttstock is checkered with an english grip.
I'm no good at determining condition in percentages, but I'd say the metal is in excellent shape, no pitting or rust, but it does show signs of handling to be expected on a gun this age. The bore is smooth and bright. The wood has some dings in it, and a small piece missing around the action release button.
I'm sure I've missed something, so please ask if you require further information.
Thanks in advance for your help.
