My father is trying to identify a old double barrel 10 ga. shotgun. Breech loading cartridge, with damascus barrels external hammers. It is engraved all over (except most of the barrels are blank of course) along the top rib reads Henry Leigh St Bernard Damascus steel, and on each loc plate it reads Henry Leigh. I assume that this was who ordered the gun? I have identified several English proof marks on the barrel and lower. All that I can find about the marks are that they were used on black powder guns and Birmingham England. It has what appears to be a buttplate made of horn (Rhino, I'm told). That is all I can think of to describe it. Most people remark that it appears as a high end gun, but noone knows for sure. Any help would be appreciated.
