I need to know if there is record of the Colt M-1911 semi auto handguns (sn:303xxx, or others) ever known to have been reblued/refurbished by government contract? If so, what were the particulars of that contract, and when was the work done?
I have the opportunity to purchase an outstanding example of such, and have looked it over very closely. It is in 99% condition, if not better, and I can see none of the usual telltale signs of refurbishment. This is absolutely the finest example of a military Colt M-1911 handgun that I have ever had the pleasure to view, and perhaps own. It is so nice that I have to examine the possability that refurbishment was done at some point during its existance. If it was refurbished, it would have to have been done by the factory to have turned out so nice.
