AntiqueGuns.com: Tutorial to Take Photographs
How About a Full Color Photograph of your Item.
1.Get an single colored cloth background. Use a dark color, NO WHITE.
2. Drape the cloth over a board and take the photograph with
the gun standing up, not laying flat on the ground. Put some hooks in the
board and hang the gun if you have to.
3.Use a digital camera, and fill the
frame with the gun. Handguns should touch both sides of the frame. To get
the correct kind of detail on rifles you usually cannot get the entire
gun in the photo. Make sure the picture includes the butt stock, magazine
and rear site. Some cameras will not focus at close range, so if you have not
bought a camera yet, but one that has MACRO-Focus capability. If you camera has
Macro focus ability, then set the lens to wide angle and get the camera as close
as you can to the item, with it still in focus.
4. Inside, surround the gun with table lamps, not so close you get
reflections. Turn off the flash, that screws things up. If outside, don't have the sun behind
you or in front of you. The sun should be coming from the side. Cloudy days are the best for detailed
photos.
5. Take a couple of photos changing your distance and settings.
6. Look at the photos already posted and try to duplicate
the best ones.
