079-0126-9417, Colt M-1860 Army, 3 screw frame, .44 percussion, 6 shot. .44 caliber. 8” barrel. SN: 96xxx (mfg. ca. 1862) with all visible numbers matching oin the bottom of the gun, cylinder and wedge. Blued and color casehardened finish, brass grip strap and triggerguard, smooth one-piece walnut grip. Barrel roll marked in a single line: “-ADDRESS COL. COLT NEW-YORK U.S. AMERICA-”. Lower left of frame with two-line “COLT’S/PATENT” marking. Left grip with script JT cartouche, the mark of arsenal sub-inspector John Taylor. Small single letter sub-inspection marks throughout. Matching serial numbers on butt, triggerguard, frame, barrel, wedge, cylinder and arbor pin. Cylinder with roll engraved Republic of Texas and Mexican navy battle scene and standard markings, 90% visible. Rebated six-chambered cylinder with remnants of safety pins on the rear, creeping loading lever and German silver blade front sight. A solid example of an early Civil War martial Colt 1860 Revolver in better condition than many examples found today. Acquired from Norm Flayderman’s Catalog #117 in 1993.

Condition: Some scattered staining on the exterior of the barrel toward the muzzle, a few tiny patches of fine pinprick pitting, probably from being stored for a long time in a holster that rotted. Barrel with traces of blue in protected areas and a moderately oxidized mottled gray patina with some patches of surface roughness. Frame with strong rainbow hues, 60% overall case coloring, showing some fading and dulling and a couple of small areas of minor pitting. Cylinder with a mostly gray patina and retaining 90% strong scene. Strong flashes of medium blue on the barrel and backstrap. The markings are clear and legible. Mechanically functional action. All safety pins battered and show some wear. Wedge screw a modern replacement. Bore with strong rifling, scattered dust spots, excellent bore. Grip fine to excellent and crisp with a nice cartouche and almost no handling marks. Much better than average Army. Fine overall.

We accept Check, Money Order, Credit Card, Wire, etc.

If you send a Cashier’s Check or Money order, items will get shipped immediately. If you send a personal check, we will wait for the check to clear before shipping. Please send an invoice with payment, it makes it easier to keep track of payments that way. Also, please be sure your shipping address is correct.

CREDIT CARD FEES: Domestic: 3.5%. International: 6.0%

WIRES: If sending a wire add $30

INSURANCE: We will only insure through the mail carrier when specifically asked to.

Shipping does not include insurance through courier. We carry our own insurance but there is a $1000 deductible. If you would like your box insured through the shipping company, the cost is $10 and you add an additional $1 for every hundred dollars’ worth of insurance that you want. $1000 insured value = $20. We do our best to package items as secure as we can, in the previous 6 years we have had 3 guns broken (all 3 were muskets) and we have shipped thousands of guns. USPS is difficult to get money out of even if you do insure through the USPS.

Cost: US $1 per $100 in value, plus $10. Ex. $1500 Insurance = $15 + $10 = $25
