079-0422-7823, Colt M-1860 Army refurbished for the frontier and issued to the 9th or 10th Cavalry, Buffalo soldiers, usually stationed in Texas after the Civil War. These guns were marked with US stamped on the trigger-guard. These guns were issued to these units because they were on the very front lines of the frontier and keeping ammunitions was difficult, so these guns were issued, because early on the frontier balls and black powder were far easier to find than .46 RF cartridges. #124xxx matching on the bottom of the gun and the cylinder. Only 10% of scene is visible, but typical of these refurbished guns, I have not see scene on any of these guns. Trace of cartouche, overall mottled brown with crisp tight action. The bore is rifled with fine surface rust coating the entire length of the bore. Scattered salt and pepper staining on all metal surfaces. Very good overall.
