079-0424-7210, USN Colt M-1851 Black Navy, with US on frame, USN on backstrap, GWR inspector cartouche on bottom of the grip. #89xxx matching on the bottom of the gun and the lever and the cylinder pin. It is . 36 cal percussion with 6 shots. The serial number has a partially visible serial number, but it does not match. There is traces of scene with clear Hartford barrel address. The gun was made in 1858. The gun has Roman numerals scratched onto the face of the cylinder, XXIIII. The only known military use of Roman Numerals was by Slaves who worked on Confederate firearms. My guess is this was was an early battlefield pickup and refurbished at one of the Richmond Armouries and returned to service with the Confederacy. But nothing has been written on that that I know about. The frame, cylinder and backstrap appear to have untouched patina, but some light cleaning was done at one time on the barrel. But patina is returning. The bore is crisply rifled with fine surface residue scattered about the bore. Trace of finish in protected places. Very good overall. Hard to fine black Navies with complement of USN markings.

INSURANCE: We will only insure through the mail carrier when specifically asked to.
Shipping does not include insurance through courier. We carry our own insurance but there is a $1000 deductible. If you would like your box insured through the shipping company, the cost is $10 and you add an additional $1 for every hundred dollars’ worth of insurance that you want. $1000 insured value = $20. We do our best to package items as secure as we can, in the previous 6 years we have had 3 guns broken (all 3 were muskets) and we have shipped thousands of guns. USPS is difficult to get money out of even if you do insure through the USPS.
Cost: US $1 per $100 in value, plus $10. Ex. $1500 Insurance = $15 + $10 = $25

RETURN POLICY
Money back, less cost to ship, if not satisfied. All sales are allowed a 3-5 business day inspection. Please contact us to make arrangements before shipping any item back for refund. No refund is due until I have received the item and it has been inspected.
