079-0722-7053, Colt M-1848 Third Model Dragoon, Civilian, rare cut-for-stock. Less than 200 were made in this configuration. Excellent grips with 70% original varnish on thin profile grips. This is the finest pair of grips I have seen on a Dragoon. Rub spot from where a shoulder stock was mounted. 50% silver on triggerguard and 30% nickel on the backstrap. This is clearly a special order gun. Strong flashes of blue on rear sight, barrel with toned rainbow hues on lever. Fine overall. The cylinder shows about 60% thin scene with traces of mottled case color on the frame and lever. The barrel shows trace of thin blue. Fine metal to metal fit and excellent wood to metal fit, on thin profile grips. This gun shows rear sight and frame screw found only on guns made to be mounted with shoulder stocks. Strongly rifled bore with scattered spots of surface residue.
