079-1124-9189, Colt Richards-Mason Conversion to .44 CF, 6 shot, very early with serial number in the range of Richards Conversions, but definitely a Richards-Mason since firing pin is mounted on the hammer and not on the back of the frame. The gun also does not have a rear sight integrated into the top of the frame. This is much less common than the Richards conversion with only 2100 made. The gun has fine to excellent grips, that show very light wear and slight edge wear. The markings are crisp. The gun retains about 80% original nickel with very light marks and scratches. The cylinder retains about 95% scene, crisp markings with 30% silver on the brass. The bore has a bright bore with crisp rifling. The screw heads, hammer, trigger than ejector rod tip are all blued must mostly faded to gray. #195xxx matching on the bottom of the gun, cylinder and I cannot pop the wedge. Crisp tight mechanics. Fine to excellent overall. This gun is actually the first Single Action. A Colt Model 1873 in this condition would be a 12,000 dollar gun. The gun was made in 1871. It is valued at 5000 dollars in fine condition in Flayderman’s Guide, this gun grades fine to excellent, much better than average fine gun. The best conversion I have handled in years. Antique.
