GR-0126-6805, Octagon Barrel Percussion Double Rifle with Set Triggers. BLOWOUT

Current bid: $750.00

GR-0126-6805, Octagon Barrel Percussion Double Rifle with Set Triggers. The top barrel is a rifled barrel and gauges to .36. The bottom barrel is a smooth bore and measures to 28 gauge or about .50. Barrels are 31 inches long. It has double set triggers that work on both the rifled and the smooth bore. I have never seen a double set trigger on a smooth bore barreled gun. The barrel is smooth brown and marked, W. E. Robbins, the locks are marked: D. Baird. There was a William E Robbins in Cherry Flats PA making guns from 1847 to 1861. I would guess D Baird is the lock maker and Robbins made the gun. There are patches of bump and dings to the metal and some light pits near the bolster. The stock show moderate bumps, dings and minor chips, the stock has also been coated in some oil at some point to help preserve the wood. The rifled bore is bright, shiny and crisply rifled with some fine spots. The shotgun bore is bright and shiny with scattered very fine spots also. The mechanics are functional but unique. When working the shotgun side, before cocking you have to pull back the set trigger, only then will the hammer hold cock and the trigger will allow the hammer to fall. The Rifled side can work the same as well as pulling the trigger back and then using the set trigger before the trigger. I am not sure what is going on inside the gun but I have never seen a double barrel rifle like this with set triggers. Very neat and unique. It has a brass trigger-guard and brass butt-plate with iron piping. The cap of the buttstock is pewter. It has 2 replaced wooden ramrods. Very interesting gun.

PLEASE READ

We accept Check, Money Order, Credit Card, Wire, etc.

If you send a Cashier’s Check or Money order, items will get shipped immediately. If you send a personal check, we will wait for the check to clear before shipping. Please send an invoice with payment, it makes it easier to keep track of payments that way. Also, please be sure your shipping address is correct.

CREDIT CARD FEES: Domestic: 3.5%. International: 6.0%

WIRES: If sending a wire add $30

INSURANCE: We will only insure through the mail carrier when specifically asked to.

Shipping does not include insurance through courier. We carry our own insurance but there is a $1000 deductible. If you would like your box insured through the shipping company, the cost is $10 and you add an additional $1 for every hundred dollars’ worth of insurance that you want. $1000 insured value = $20. We do our best to package items as secure as we can, in the previous 6 years we have had 3 guns broken (all 3 were muskets) and we have shipped thousands of guns. USPS is difficult to get money out of even if you do insure through the USPS.

Cost: US $1 per $100 in value, plus $10. Ex. $1500 Insurance = $15 + $10 = $25
