GR-0224-5050, Deluxe Winchester Model 1873. .38 cal. 24 Inch barrel. Serial number 245,xxx. Case colored frame has mostly silvered and or turned to a nice brown patina. There are only traces of bright case color in protected places on the frame but the hammer has some bright case color. Very good wood shows honest use and carry wear. I see no evidence of sanding or cleaning, just honest use, with some jumps and dings in the wood. Checkered forearm and pistol grip. The barrel retains 15%-20% of the original blue finish that is mixing to a handsome and untouched chocolate patina. Metal edges are crisp. Markings are all crisp and clear. The gun is a fine condition example of a deluxe that was carried and used but never abused. The bore is bright, shiny, crisply rifled with some light scattered spots and residue. Very good bore and much better than average for a Model 1873. The mechanics are nice and crisp. Very good + overall and really a nice old gun that shows nothing but honest use.
