GR-0424-6167, Consecutive Numbered Pair of Colt Model 1849 Pocket Conversions .38 CF, 5 shot, half round guns. Guns were made in 1869.
Gun 1 80% scene with light cleaning overall. The grips show 90% original varnish with maybe some light oil applied to preserve and protect. The action is crisp and tight. Markings are all crisp and clear. Serial number #317,x84. The bore is bright and shiny, crisply rifled with some fine spots. Very good + bore.
Gun 2 Serial number 317×83 matching on the bottom of the gun and the cylinder. The wedge is numbered, but not matching. 90% strong scene with smooth gray with clear barrel and frame address. Iron guard with kill notches along the backstrap. The grips show about 60% original varnish with some wood filler and repairs on the grips. Overall the gun shows some light bumps and dings, and like the other gun some light cleaning done at some point. There are flashes of original finish on the back-strap, trigger-guard and hammer. The bore is bright, shiny, crisply rifled with a few fine spots. Very good + bore. One of the screws in the frame is obviously replaced. Very good overall.
Known in Flayderman’s guide as a half round. Some were converted from 1849 Colts and many made and originally configured as cartridge guns. That what this pair is originally configured in like you see them. It is difficult to find any pair in any type of condition with consecutive numbers.
