GR-0725-6625, Early Colt Model 1851 Navy. Serial number 21,xxx matches on the lever, frame, trigger-guard, back-strap, cylinder, wedge and cylinder pin. Numbers matches everywhere I can see it. Made in 1853. The gun retains 15% tarnished silver. The grips are the early thin profile with 75% original varnish and some scattered light bumps, just evidence of light use. The cylinder retains 95% + cylinder scene scene and about 40% thin blue overall on the cylinder. The frame, lever and hammer retain about 30% case colors. Where case color is not bright it has simply muted slightly. The barrel retains about 40% deep to medium blue that mixes to a nice and handsome patina. The action is crisp and tight. The bore is bright, shiny and crisply rifled. Fine overall condition and an untouched and handsome early gun. Could have found its way to California and the gold fields in the 1850s. I love these these early 51 Navy Colts, the quality of workmanship was the best that Colt did in my opinion. Handsome gun that was lightly used but never abused.
