GR-0824-6310, Warner Carbine variant by Greene Rifle Works, 2nd contract chambered in 56=50 RF and delivered early in 1865. Marked on the left side of the frame, GREENE RIFLE WORKS WORCHESTER, MASS, PAT 1864. This gun has European proof marks on the left side of the barrel, frame and latch. These guns were issued to the 3rd Mass, and 1st Wisc Cavalry Regiments. They were subsequently sold as surplus by a NY Dealer who sent them to France for use in the Franco-Prussian War. Clear markings with proofs on the barrel and frame. Light use marks are on the stock. Scattered small patches of very fine pinpricks on the barrel and band. Very good overall. One of the hardest to find Civil War Carbines. The bore is bright, shiny, strongly rifled with some fine spots and pinpricks near the muzzle. Functional mechanics. Serial number 27xx matches on the frame and latch.
