GR79-0423-4614, Sharps Slant Breech Octagon Barrel Sporting Rifle. BUY NOW
GR79-0423-4614, Sharps Slant Breech Octagon Barrel Sporting Rifle with 26 inch medium heavy barrel. Gauges to .45 cal. Dark chocolate patina overall with pewter forearm cap. There are flashes of original blue finish on the barrel if you look at it under a bright light or sunlight. Large initials JB scratched into the butt stock. It comes with an iron patch-box. Overall the gun appears to have moderate bumps, dings and use marks from honest use, but not abused. There are a couple of old repairs on the stalk. They look old plus they are brass screws and pins holding the small broken off pieces in place. Those repairs are on the top of the stalk, near the top of the tang and also on the bottom of the stalk up next to the butt plate. A couple of screws have been replaced on the gun. The lower tang has a slot to accommodate a set trigger. The upright portion of the rear sight has been removed or broken off. Functional mechanics. The bore is bright, crisply rifled with scattered fine spots and light residue in bore. Bore needs cleaning but very good as is with a lot of life left. Flaydermans says there were only about 100 of these heavy barrel sporting rifles made in the Civil War era. Uncommon gun and not a gun we have to offer very often. Very good overall.

INSURANCE: We will only insure through the mail carrier when specifically asked to.
Shipping does not include insurance through courier. We carry our own insurance but there is a $1000 deductible. If you would like your box insured through the shipping company, the cost is $10 and you add an additional $1 for every hundred dollars’ worth of insurance that you want. $1000 insured value = $20. We do our best to package items as secure as we can, in the previous 6 years we have had 3 guns broken (all 3 were muskets) and we have shipped thousands of guns. USPS is difficult to get money out of even if you do insure through the USPS.
Cost: US $1 per $100 in value, plus $10. Ex. $1500 Insurance = $15 + $10 = $25
