GR79-1220-1883, Colt M-1849 Pocket, .31 Cal, 5 shot. #189xxx in the range of numbers of Hartford guns, this gun was made in 1861 and early enough it could have gone south. But in excellent condition, 95% original grip varnish, 75% silver on brass. 99% scene, 50% cylinder blue, the barrel had over 90% blue, but large portions have flaked off. Which is a shame, because this could be a 4000 dollar if all the blue remained. 90% vivid case color on lever, frame and hammer. There are almost no handling marks. Pins still present on back of cylinder. I would consider this gun a perfect beginner collector gun. This is the type of gun you should purchase, wonderful grips, guaranteed original finish. Rather that spend this kind of money for a soso Colt Army you can really get a wonderful gun under $2000. Your biggest problem will be all the collectors that try to buy it from you. All numbers match, including the wedge. Crisp metal edges. Crisp and clear cylinder scene. Excellent bore, I see some streaking blue still in bore. Crisp and tight mechanics. The gun is totally righteous, even the screw heads have original nitre blue and are not buggered up. Untouched gun. Hard to find a civil war gun this nice that is in this price range.
