GR-0224-5000, Whitney Navy. There are martial inspector marks on the barrel, frame and trigger-guard. I see no cartouche on the grip and there is also some varnish on the grips that looks original to me. There is also some silver on the trigger-guard, the military would never have paid for this. Serial number 10,xxx matches on the barrel, frame and is stamped on the inside of each grip. The serial number on the lever and the trigger-guard do not match the rest of the gun. I am not sure what to think of all of this, I suspect that the gun was a military overrun and was then sold on the civilian market. The gun retains about 10-15% original barrel blue and the rest of the gun is covered in a nice even chocolate patina. I see no cylinder scene, but I do not think it ever had a cylinder scene. The grips are 15-20% original varnish and show honest use and bumps. There is a small chip on the right grip. Handsome gun. The bore is bright, shiny, crisply rifled with fine spots and light residue the length of the bore. Very good bore. Crisp tight mechanics.
